- Connecting 3 or More Monitors to a Mac Mini - General Hardware Forum - Spiceworks?
How do you manage to connect to two Thunderbolt Cinema Display. Mac mini only has one port. And the monitor only work at the end of the chain.
Is it possible to set up three monitors?
Do you daisy chain them together? You can daisy chain the second TB display to the the TB port on the first display, which plugs into the Mini. Drop box a necessity? Simply drag and drop. Most of us have multiple computers in different geographical locations. Dropbox is seamless, no need to constantly map drives. I usually recommend getting a home imax screen installed along with 2 cray supercomputers for browsing reddit. Forgot to mention, on my cray machine I frequently use my favorite app: Use this because I sometimes need to delete files that accumulate on my desktop.
I have the same setup, Mac mini with dual Thunderbold displays. I docked with a rMBP for some time too. Let me tell you, it screams! I love it!
Sounds like we have very similar setups. Neat setup! Where exactly in the comments is it? Maybe it could be clarified further in the article itself, or desk accessories could be listed separately? Or are people just skimming? Heres the link if anyone is interested: Wow what an awesome desk, both hardware and the physical desk itself is just beautiful. Where do you even get a piece of granite that size? Do you have to have it custom cut? And what on earth is it resting on to support lbs of rock plus the hardware?
I imagine it cost a small fortunate based on the price of granite countertops for a house… but would love to know more.

My brother-in-law used to run a granite business. They would do custom pieces for countertops, kitchens, etc. He had about 6 desks like this in the office, mostly to impress customers.
When he downsized the business, I asked for one of the desks. The entire thing is custom. Granite is incredibly strong, I have stood on the desk before and it holds my lb. He told me if I could haul it away I could have it. I got it for free about 9 years ago, I definitely plan on keeping it forever. The size is damn near perfect for what I do, and I especially like the arc in the front. Do you get that much comfort out of it? Is it better for your back or posture?
I use a kind of junky generic office chair, I have long wondered if the fancier chairs are worth the hefty expense. Absolutely it is. A comfortable chair is key. Find one which is truly comfortable. This is a great setup, Patrick. It is definitely something I want to duplicate in my home office when I upgrade from my inch iMac. Thanks so much for the inspiration!! OS X will automatically determine the ideal resolution for both screens, but should you want to tweak this setting, you can do so by selecting the Display tab within Displays the preferences panel. Using the arrangement window, you can move adjust the layout of your monitors to reflect how they are actually set up on your desk.
Keep in mind, this will also determine the side of your screen to which you move your mouse to switch between displays. So long as the displays are "touching" in the arrangement window, you can arrange the displays however you'd like. Top, bottom, right, left - it doesn't matter. As just mentioned, the menu bar and dock is only present on one display technically the menu bar is present on the secondary display, but its transparency is nearly see-through , making it the primary screen. In this same settings pane, you can drag the white bar that represents the menu bar to the screen you want to set as primary.

Again, the displays will go black, then light back up to reflect the new settings. Have an extra iMac sitting around the house? Did you know you can use it as a second monitor for a MacBook? The cable will need to be plugged into the Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt port on your Macbook, and then again in the corresponding port on the iMac.
Apple posted a list of iMacs and the respective cable requirement for each here. Once connected, sign into both devices, then press Command and the F2 key at the same time to activate what's called Target Display Mode on the iMac. Your MacBook will then see the iMac as nothing more than another monitor, and you can use it as you see fit. I've read from other posts that it is possible to get the full x resolution this way only if your HDMI is v1. I know most gamers are able to use software like switch res to tweak their HDMI to get this to work at full res - but that is on the pc side of the fence. Don't know if apple has anything like this?
If this will not work, can I just split the output on the end of the dual link dvi adapter and connect both displays that way? I always used an imac and never needed a second display. Now that I have the new mini, I will just be using it for photo editing and would like to have the main screen display thumbnails in light room. And have the second displaying full sized images in photoshop etc. BTW, I have maxed out the ram to 16gb, and installed 2 intel ssd's in raid 0 with trim enabled as the boot drive. This little box moves quick!

I am very happy with the performance so far. I currently have an LG ips led monitor attached via hdmi port. Don't get me wrong, The hdmi looks great. I would just prefer to get the max out of the card if possible. Thanks in advance for the help. You folks are the best. Koo Honorable. Jun 21, 9 0 10, 0.
